The Asian Centre for e-Learning (ACE) is an Asian hub focused on the promotion of e-learning and exchange of relevant knowledge amongst the Asian community. It aims to lead the development of e-learning initiatives as well as promote elearning in the region. This will be done by developing policies and standards, creating content through strategic links, provide training and consultancy and create a repository of elearning knowledge and technologies.

Functions

1. Policy and Standards:

• Lead in the development of e-learning policies and standards
• Facilitate the establishment of a Qualification Framework for the recognition of e-learning programmes in the region
• Develop common academic and quality standards in e-learning among institions in the region
• Promote more effective policy instruments and incentives that allow the development of skills and competencies in e-learning in the region

2. Creation of e-Content:

• Developing mechanisms for the joint creation of e-content among institutions in the region
• Explore the possibility of establishing funding mechanisms for the collaborative development of e-content
• Establish a repository of e-content that is shared among institutions in the region

3. Training and Consultation:

• Accelerate the development of e-learning expertise through academic and training programmes
• Establish a database of international e-learning expertise
• Promote frequent consultation and cooperation among institutions in the exchange experiences and best practices in e-learning
• Explore business opportunities on e-learning solutions
• Provide training and consultation on areas where subject matter experts are available primarily on an e-learning mode

4. Technology Support:

• Acquire and maintain all hardware and software essential for the delivery of e-learning
• Responsible for establishment and updating of the e-learning portal
