Asia e University has a diverse portfolio of academic, executive programmes and lifelong self-enrichment courses that are delivered through open and flexible study pathways. The structure of the AeU programmes is designed to run in both full-time and part-time modes to allow for flexibility for students who are working professionals as well as new graduates. Flexible study modes provide an alternative to traditional face-to-face learning and teaching, and allow students to study where ever they may be. As Asia e University is endorsed by 31 ACD member countries, providing alternate modes of study is important, as this enables AeU to reach out to students around Asia and beyond. Depending on the programme chosen, there are a range of flexible study modes to choose from to facilitate the teaching and learning process.

As a dual-mode university, AeU offers programmes both in the open & distance learning (ODL) mode as well as the Full-Time On-Site mode. Hence students will have the option to migrate from the ODL mode to the Full-Time On-Site Mode and vice-versa.
AeU is a multinational university set in Asia by Asians under the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). At the ACD Foreign Ministers Meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan on April, 2005 AeU was established. At the ACD Foreign Ministers Meeting in Doha, Qatar on April, 2006 member countries reaffirmed their commitment towards AeU. On June, 2007 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member countries further declared their support for AeU.
In its initial phase, AeU is supported with funding by the Malaysian Government. Efforts are made to obtain investors from the private sector of the ACD member countries. Several such expressions of interest have been received.
Being supported by the 31 ACD countries, AeU is in a advantageous position than other institutions to operate in these countries and obtain their recognition.
AeU is negotiating to establish links with higher education institutions in establishing branch campuses in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
To date several workshops and roundtable meetings have been held involving representatives from ACD countries deciding on the concept, governance, programmes and content offered by AeU.
Supervisors for the masters and doctoral programmes are sourced from academics in the region.
The expertise of academics and professionals from the region will be appointed to develop learning materials for the various programmes.
The undergraduate and graduate curriculum offered by AeU reflect an Asian perspective with case studies and examples drawn from the region to illustrate concepts, principles and theories.
Since the establishment of AeU is supported by the ACD countries, it is expected that these countries will recognise the degrees offered.
In October, 2008 a paper on the establishment of an Asian Credit Transfer System (ACTS) will be tabled at the ACD Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Kazakhstan. Its acceptance will facilitate credit transfer and the mutual recognition of degrees among the 31 member countries. This will be the first step towards international recognition of AeU programmes.
Currently, degrees offered have been accorded provisional accreditation by the Malaysian Quality Agency (MQA) and final accreditation will be obtained six months before the first batch of students graduate.
AeU is a multinational university set in Asia by Asians under the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). It is an international university and is in the process of gaining international recognition.
