
IIITB is predominantly a post-graduate and research institution. In its campus in Bangalore, it offers the highly sought after M Tech programme in Information Technology, the MS programme by research and the Ph.D. programme. As part of its extension education activities, IIIT-B offers a Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Software Development (1 year) as a pathway to MTech program offered by IIIT-B. The School of Information and Communication Technology, in collaboration with IIIT-B is now offering PGDSD in Malaysia in which it has been exclusively offered by IIIT-B in India. Students who have completed PGDSD are also given the opportunity to pursue one semester (four modules) to earn Executive Master in Software Development.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Solve complex problems using methods and tools that are popularly used by the industries.
- Designing and building enterprise level database applications and develop web applications using a variety of technologies such as HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, JSP and Servlets.
- Use the object oriented approach to problem solving and write programs using Java and analyze systems and design applications using OOAD and specify the same using UML.
- Use the Java Enterprise Application Development platform for developing enterprise applications and apply software testing methodologies.
- Solve a wide variety of problems ranging from scientific applications to commercial applications to games using object oriented approach and applications of appropriate programming languages and tools.
